GCSE Summer Examinations 2023

The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), have informed us of three contingency dates to put in your diary.

These are dates that may be used if there is any disruption to a day of exams for any reason. In such a case exams may be rescheduled to one of these contingency dates. The dates for these contingency days are the afternoons of Thursday 8th and 15th June as well as the full day of Wednesday 28th June (right at the end of the exam window).
Therefore, candidates/learners need to make sure they are available on these days and must not arrange a holiday until at least after 28th June - the last possible day exams will take place. The JCQ goes on to say, "if learners are not available because they are on holiday and one of their exams is rescheduled to this day, they will not be eligible for special consideration by the exam boards. For this reason, the JCQ requests all schools inform parents and learners of this date so that it can be taken into account when making plans for the summer."
We hope that the use of the contingency days will not be necessary. However, we feel duty bound to pass on the JCQ information and request that candidates/learners be available on these dates, in case it is required.
We will be providing your son/daughter with their individual examination timetable shortly along with the
"Information to Candidates" pack which our staff will have discussed with them, we encourage all parents/carers to go through this pack again to reinforce the expectations and rules of taking these exams set out by the JCQ to avoid any malpractice.
Working with your daughter/son, please use official exam dates to start to think about how they will plan for, and manage, their revision as they prepare for their exams.
GCSE results will be released to candidates at the respective sites on Thursday 24th August, timings of the day are to be confirmed and will be announced on our website closer the time.
If you have any queries regarding the 2023 examinations please contact the Mr Flint (Head of Centre) for further clarification.
