DOFE Practice Expedition

On Monday 15th March the Duke of Edinburgh learners from Trinity Academy New Bridge undertook a long practice walk-in picturesque South-East Northumberland. The total distance of the walk was approximately 12km in near to perfect, warm walking conditions.

Seven learners from Key Stage 4 took part in the walk with a fantastic attitude and never gave up in their quest to complete the full distance of the planned route. Each member of the group took it in turns to lead an aspect of the walk and the students were extremely supportive of one another and helped encourage each other throughout the day.

The students were looking at the impact of human pollution as part of their walk and the good news was there was very little litter seen on the walk. The students followed parts of the South Tyne Trial which is a lovely circular family walk and the group have now moved on to planning their final Bronze Level assessed expedition after the Easter holidays. Everyone in the group did themselves proud and should be very pleased with their efforts.
