Admissions Arrangements

In order to make entry into Trinity Academy New Bridge as smooth as possible, we have an agreed procedure to complete before a new learner would be admitted.

A number of learners arrive in Trinity Academy New Bridge from North View School, our primary feeder school, and follow one set of admission procedures. Those from other establishments will follow another slightly modified process.

Learners arriving in Trinity Academy New Bridge from North View School will already have an Education, Health and Care Plan in place indicating Social, Emotional and Mental Health Issues. North View School constantly reviews the Special Educational Needs of their learners and for those arriving in Trinity Academy New Bridge, it will be deemed that they are unable to cope in the mainstream environment and therefore need to retain their Education, Health and Care Plan.

Learners arriving in Trinity Academy New Bridge from other establishments may have gone through Full Statutory Assessment (FSA). After FSA has been carried out an Education, Health and Care Plan will be written by Sunderland Education Special Needs Department, where appropriate.

These processes are to allay any fears of transition; to familiarise learners, parents/carers and staff with each other; to collect and collate prior attainment information; to get basic family information; to discuss the home/school agreement and to make sure that everything is done in such a way that changing schools is a positive experience sensitively executed.
