This week, selected learners at Trinity Academy New Bridge have been entered into the regional competition for the VEX IQ robotics. https://www.vexrobotics.com/iq/competition/viqc-current-game

VEX IQ Competition Slapshot is played on a 6’ x 8’ rectangular field configured as seen above. Two robots compete in the Teamwork Challenge as an alliance in 60 second long teamwork matches, working collaboratively to score points.

Teams also compete in the Robot Skills Challenge where one robot takes the field to score as many points as possible. These matches consist of Driving Skills Matches, which will be entirely driver controlled, and Programming Skills Matches, which will be autonomous with limited human interaction.

Our selected learners will enhance their skills in programming, communication, problem solving, strategy and working as a team, to compete within the competition. All in preparation for the regional championships where they will compete with other schools within the region.

Today our team started their journey to build a robotic structure and were totally engrossed in the building phase of the competition. They successfully built a basic base robot structure that is now ready to be configured and programmed.
