English Curriculum
Year 9 have been studying An Inspector Calls by JB Priestley as part of their English curriculum this term, in preparation for GCSE. The learners read the play which revolves around the apparent suicide of a young woman called Eva Smith. The unsuspecting Birling family are visited by the mysterious Inspector Goole who arrives just as they are celebrating the engagement of Sheila Birling to Gerald Croft. The learners have identified the themes that exist within the play, studied the characters, and have demonstrated that they are conscientious individuals who are aware of their interconnectedness with other human beings. One learner, Nathan states “I really enjoyed learning about the history of the play and what it means, bring on the next challenge!”
