Gothic Horror Writing

We have been learning about Gothic Horror in English and have been discussing how an atmosphere and supernatural events can lead the writer and reader down a dark path. Learners have been putting forward ideas of their own interpretation, which you can see below. All learners allowed their imagination to run wild. Here is an example:

As I walked up to the asylum, I was filled with a deep despair. I arrived at the gates of ‘All Saints Asylum’. The wind was blowing the gate back and forth with a noise like someone was dragging their nails down a chalkboard. Trees moved with the rhythm of the gate, as if someone was playing an orchestra. Crows were flying past every so often, screaming loudly like a choir to the orchestra.
